MY Story

Who's Behind Screw Taboo?

My name is Sam Lasky, and I identify as panromantic, on the asexual spectrum, and uninterested in monogamous, lifelong partnership. I am also neurodivergent, in recovery from an autoimmune disease, and a long-time sufferer of TMJ and its associated diagnoses. So basically, my sanity is hanging on by a thread some days!

I've been asexual since I was born, but of course, I only came to the conclusion as I grew up and learned about sex. I'll never forget the day in fifth grade health class when we were shown an anatomical diagram of a penis entering a vulva, and I started crying. Later, I told my teacher, "I don't want to do that..." and bless her soul, being the wonderful lady she was, Ms. Nasso told me, "you don't have to."

Since then, I have remained uninterested in sex and never done anything I don't want to! To be clear, I am just ONE example of what it's like to live as an asexual person, but there are countless others out there. Some of us like to have sex, some don't mind, and some are absolutely repulsed. My goal with my platform is to be apart of deconstructing the myths and mystery of asexuality (and neurodivergence). I also hope that by being loud and proud of my identity, I can encourage other people to share their stories, too.

Along the way, I hope to make you laugh! Because this stuff can be heavy and we all need a little more light in this world :)
